Meet the Better Farms Team

Better Farms is a family business taking advantage of the unique skill sets each member has. Check out the profiles below to see where we each fit in!

Daniel Kelley

Owner

Daniel spent several years working at the local feed store growing a reputation as "the chicken guy". It was during those years that he discovered his love for helping people solve the daily problems that arise on the farm. Daniel grew up raising and breeding animals and had a father who grew an amazing garden every year. Years later Daniel still had that desire to farm but found himself living on a 1/4 acre lot in a neighborhood. Knowing he could not be the only one with a desire for fresh food but was limited by time and space, Better Farms was born.

When Daniel isn't working he spends time with his wife Esther and 3 kids.  He also loves helping out in  his churches youth program, hunting, fishing, and hiking in the beautiful PNW.

Matt Strickland

Owner

Matt has been in the Army reserves for the past four years and continues to serve part time while running Better Farms. He has had a variety of work experiences that have all pieced together to bring him to this point. Matt owned a landscaping company, spent time working at the local feed store, worked for a tree removal service, and spent time as a civil contractor as well. His long standing ties to the community and wide range of skills made him the perfect fit for starting Better Farms.

When Matt is not working you will find him spending time with his new wife Mary, riding (or working) on his motorcycle, and spending time with family.

Dan Kelley

Garden Consultant

Dan has been gardening in Kitsap County for over 40 years. He has put in the time to discover what really works and what does not work in our unique climate. From growing berries and veggies, to crop rotation and compost building Dan is a wealth of knowledge.

Recently retired, Dan finds himself spending more time in the garden (shocker), chasing grandkids, and occasionaly getting out to fish locally and with family in Montana as well..

Esther Kelley

Social Media and marketing

Esther Kelley is a full time stay at home mom to three children with one on the way! She is the one who ties the families together as she is Daniel's wife and Matt's sister. Esther is one of those people who seems to make friends wherever she goes! She is naturally great at meeting and getting to know people, and she has been kind enough to use those traits to help us. Most of what you see on our social media comes right from her!

In her spare time, Esther loves baking and is well known for her incredible sourdough bread and baked treats!
